Cookie Policy
Last updated:
This page lists every cookie and local storage entry set by tradecalculator.co.uk, why we set it, and how to refuse or remove it. It is a companion to our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies?
“Cookies” are small text records stored by your browser. PECR reg. 6 also covers similar technologies such as localStorage and sessionStorage. The table below treats all of these as “storage entries”.
2. Your choice
On your first visit you will see a banner asking whether to allow optional analytics and session-replay storage. If you decline, we only use the strictly-necessary entries in the table below. You can change your mind later by clearing this site’s cookies in your browser settings — the banner will reappear on your next visit.
3. What we store
3.1 Strictly necessary (no consent required, PECR reg. 6(4))
| Name | Type | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
tradecalculator-consent | localStorage | Remembers your accept/reject choice so we don’t re-prompt you. | Until you clear it |
tradecalculator-history | localStorage | Your recent calculations list, stored on your own device. | Until you clear it |
tradecalculator-unit-* | localStorage | Unit preferences (mm/m, kg/lbs) so a calculator opens in your preferred unit. | Until you clear it |
3.2 Analytics (optional — only if you consent)
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics 4 | Aggregate usage measurement (page-views, click events, device type). | 13 months |
_clck, _clsk, MR, MUID | Microsoft Clarity | Anonymised session replay and heatmaps to improve usability. | Up to 13 months |
4. How to block or remove storage entries
- Banner:click “Reject” on the cookie banner. Analytics and Clarity will not load at all.
- Browser:clear storage from browser settings. In Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data → See all site data → search “tradecalculator” → Delete. Other browsers have equivalent tools.
- Opt-out tools: install Google’s Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to block GA4 on every site you visit.
5. Third-party cookies
Any third-party cookies listed above are set by the third parties (Google, Microsoft). We do not control their cookie policies. See their policies directly: Google, Microsoft.
